We had the very good fortune today of being gifted some gorgeous puffball mushrooms. We were thrilled! Seriously thrilled.
I immediately fried some slices up for breakfast to accompany my lucky double yolk-er.
We gifted some to friends and one of our CSA families and then we canned the rest in our chicken stock to make a delicious mushroom soup base.
We still have a chunk left in the fridge for mushroom steaks later this week after I get the smell of mushroom out of my nose after spending all day chopping puffballs and canning mushroom stock. I love mushrooms but I am done with fungi for today.
