White Outside but Green Inside

In protest of the persistent winter chill, Gael Glen Farm has gone green.

Today we embraced our inner Irish (yes, a day late but who's counting?).  We began the day with green pancakes with blueberries and homemade maple syrup.

We then worked on seasoning the new (to us) but very old cast iron pot gifted to us by GG as she cleans out her basement.

We rinsed it well and covered it with a thin layer of bacon grease.

We then placed it upside down to cure in the oven at 375 degrees for one hour.

In the meantime, I made butter to get the buttermilk I needed to make a loaf of Irish Soda Bread.  Once the pot was seasoned, we used it to bake the bread.

Nice, huh?

While the bread was baking we had a party!

Complete with noisemakers!

And cupcakes!
Who is cutest?  Impossible to decide.
For dinner we stuck with the traditional St. Paddy's Day meal of corned beef and cabbage.

It may be -15 degrees Celcius and STILL very snowy outside, but that doesn't mean that we can't be green on the inside!
