Conquering a Mountain, Planting a Forest, and a Dirty Tongue

In addition to receiving a warm welcome home from Ian and the farm animals after a week away, I was also greeted by an absolutely enormous mountain of dirty laundry.  Seriously, it is giant.

Sigh.
Luckily I have a some very good laundry helpers eager to assist.

Ever tried a canine drying rack?
I am not sure this is particularly helpful but at least Seamus
is occupying himself without making a huge mess.
While the washing machine does its work, we are growing our garden "forest".

Today was our second planting of broccoli, red and green cabbage, and turnip.  We also planted our first kale and sweet pepper seeds.

Seamus LOVED gardening inside.
Getting to play with dirt in the LIVING ROOM made his day.
In addition to making a rather large mess on the living room floor (the Pro-mix did not stay on the sheet as I had hoped), we talked about how Pro-mix is special soil that helps seeds sprout into plants.   Seamus decided that plant roots should be called plant "tongues" since they "eat" the vitamins and minerals from the soil.  We concluded the planting session by reinforcing the distinction between "boy" and "plant".  It still surprises me the things I actually find myself saying to a toddler throughout the day.   Me: "No Seamus, you cannot eat the Pro-mix to grow big and strong.  Please don't lick the dirt.  It is yummy for plants, not for boys."  Sigh.
