Seamus, Egg Collector

Seamus loves to participate in egg collection.

He brings the empty egg baskets down to the chicken coop.
This hen is guarding the eggs.
Some hens (like this one) will peck you if you try to collect the eggs they are sitting on.  The trick is to go in from behind and take the eggs from underneath while avoiding their beak.  Seamus is not tall enough to reach the top nest and he does not like getting pecked, so we work as a team.   Like this:

While it took about a hundred broken eggs, Seamus has finally learned to be very gentle handling the eggs and he does a wonderful job as an egg collector.

Once he has a basket full of eggs, Seamus runs (carefully) back to the house yelling, "Daddy!  Daddy! I have eggs for you!"  He is so proud.
