Putting Away

We spent our day putting away: putting away groceries, putting away laundry, putting away hay bales.  It might not have been the most exciting day but at least most things around here are now in their proper place.

Except Ava.  Why does Ava always have to be the exception?  The last few days Ava has decided that her proper place is apparently not sleeping in her crate in the goat barn.  She has slept in this crate for 2.5 years but she has very recently taken to moving her crate (with herself inside it) around the barn at night - much to the goats' obvious dismay.

I tried giving her loads of clean, dry straw to use to make a nice den, putting her to bed later, letting her out earlier in the morning - you name it, she was not buying it.  Finally, last night she managed to escape the crate completely and I found her loose in the barn with the goats this morning.  So, I have decided to try the freedom route and removed the apparently offensive crate from the barn completely.  I am praying that they all sleep quietly together tonight and that I don't wake up to a goat with a limb chewed off tomorrow morning.  Oh, Ava, please just behave.
