A Tropicana Exploration

After being cooped up in the kitchen all day yesterday for the honey harvest, the big boys and I were itching to get outside in the fresh air.  We left Daddy and Ali home to deal with the next round of ripe tomatoes and headed out to hike the Tropicana Trail Loop in Gatineau Park.

It was a beautiful day to be out in the calm and tranquil forest.  We found loads of cool mushrooms, enjoyed the shade of tall maple trees and even explored a tiny cave.  It was heaven.

Back on the homestead, Ian and Ali kept busy canning tomatoes and dehydrating cayenne peppers.

Even though we got up to very different things today, we were all tired out by the day's end.  It is back to school for everyone tomorrow - even Ali, who is heading off to his first day of preschool.  I am sure that we will all be needing to channel the serenity of the forest tomorrow morning during Alistair's first preschool drop off.  It will all be fine, right?  I am calm and tranquil like the forest....and repeat.
