Dirty Eggs Make Delicious Brownies

It is another really cold day on the farm.  There have not been many days this winter where I have deemed it cold enough to leave the chickens locked inside their coop during the day but yesterday and today have been two of them.

Even though it is for their own good, the chickens do not appreciate being confined to their coop during the daylight hours.  They are not shy about letting me know that they are not happy with my decision to keep them locked inside.  Just to make their discontent abundantly clear, today they got a hold of the egg collection basket, threw it on the coop floor and then pooped in it (repeatedly).

They then laid their eggs in it and roll them around in the poop.  And so, I was welcomed to this lovely sight when I checked on them in the early afternoon.  Thanks hens.  Very nice, indeed.

Luckily, this mess is nothing a little hot water and soap cannot fix.  Once today's eggs were all cleaned up, we used two of them to make the most delicious brownies.

Why not?  Like the hens, we too are stuck inside because of this frigid weather.  Can't we all just be like Ali and make the best of it?
