In the Calm Before the Storm...

In the calm before the storm, our sheep, donkey and goats were happily munching their hay; the chickens, turkey and ducks were pecking and scratching at the snow around their coop and Ava was laying contentedly on the goat manure pile keeping an eye out for the not-so-friendly neighbourhood fisher.

With everything under control in the barn yard, Liam and I decided to get out and enjoy the warmer winter weather after this weekend's cold snap.  We headed less than ten minutes away to the Crazy Horse Trail.  Thank you Laurie for the suggestion!

We had a super afternoon.  We hiked the main trail and two loops, a 9 km (2.5 hr) journey.  The trail was easy (packed down with no elevation) yet interesting enough to keep Liam engaged; there were: snowy bridges, a detour, a few lookouts, some cool trees and roots, and three different colour trail markers.

Sadly, this was the last of our hikes for Family Day Weekend 2021 but, at least we finished on a high note.  Besides, with all the snow forecasted for tonight I can bet that our exercise tomorrow will come in the form of shovelling all the animals out of their barns, not hiking.
