Busy Buzzers

We have some very happy honey bees living here in Gael Glen Apiary.  Our hive inspection today confirmed that everything is right on track.  As expected, we have two queen-right hives (1 and 5).  Hives 2,3 and 4 have made queen cells out of eggs and are waiting to meet their newest royal.  It looked like a queen cell in two of the hives had already hatched; the virgin queens might already be out and preparing for their mating flights.  The two hives that overwintered are simply teeming with worker bees.  These workers have begun laying down honey and are busy, busy, busy foraging around in our flower gardens and in our neighbouring fields of wild flowers.

Luckily there are plenty of delicious flowers for everyone since, in addition to our honey bees, there are lots of wild foragers also making use of our Flower Bank.  Sharing is caring!
