Damage Report

After the heavy frost we received a few days ago, we can now see the full extent of the damage to our various crops.  Thankfully, we hadn't yet planted our warm weather crops yet because even our cold tolerant crops took a hit.  We have discoloured cabbage, chard and kale leaves and dead asparagus and lovage shoots.

We lost a few strawberries and all of our mulberries.

Our walnut tree, mulberry tree and butternut tree lost all their newest leaves.

Our fern glen looks rough.

Our grape vines were decimated.

We also lost our first planting of yellow beans.

This late and very hard frost, combined with the month long drought we are experiencing, makes for an unfortunate start to the growing season.  Hopefully things improve from here.
