A Colourful Day

On this grey October morning, I was lucky to fit my farm chores in between two downpours.  Despite the foul weather, I was delighted at this morning's array of white edibles: a full litre of fresh goat milk, a generous helping of shaggy mane mushrooms, and our very first Pekin duck egg!

We used the duck egg - which to our great surprise turned out to be a double yolker! - to make homemade vanilla bean and goat milk tapioca pudding.

This was tonight's dessert following our meal of "rainbow curry" and rice.

Some of the vegetables in our garden are just beautiful right now.  Our swiss chard is called fantasia orange for a reason.

And I think our green cauliflower plant has decided that it would rather be a maple tree - what a gorgeous shade of pink!

The big boys both napped this afternoon so that they were allowed to stay up late and help Ian grind pork.  They were entranced watching the meat chunks go in and then the bright red meat "snakes" come out of the meat grinder.

It was a wonderfully colourful day here at Gael Glen Farm.  Who needs a rainy day?  We make our own rainbows around here!
