It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

If I had a tail, it would be fair to say that today I worked it off.  It was a major planting day for us here on Gael Glen Farm.  With all three kiddos home and eager to help, it was a bit chaotic but we got it done!

Thanks to the absolutely gorgeous spring weather, we were able to transplant out all of our broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale seedlings under the protection of our hoop garden greenhouses.

We also directly sowed swiss chard, spinach, endive, lettuce and radishes into one of our pallet gardens.

Inside, we cleaned our seed trays and then planted all of our tomatoes, herbs and another round of cool weather vegetables.  We also watered and fertilized our pepper and onion seedlings.  It was a jam packed and very dirt-filled day.

After spending a large portion of the afternoon supervising our planting from his stroller and shoving anything and everything dirty into his mouth, Alistair was famished from all the fresh air.  Bananas sure taste better than dirt!

The big boys spent the entire day outside from a half an hour after getting up to a half an hour before going up to bed.  They were filthy but after a warm bath were sound asleep in minutes.

I am thrilled that we are now caught up on our seed sowing.  Tomorrow we will begin preparing the remaining pallet gardens for the next iteration of planting in roughly two weeks.  We will also work on erecting more hoop greenhouses over top of the remaining gardens.  And so, it has begun...it's the most wonderful time of the year!
