Hay Baby!

During Alistair's morning nap, the big boys and I spent time in the barn.  Seamus cleaned out the nest boxes.  His least favourite part was shooing away the broody hens (they are really ornery!) but he very much enjoyed stuffing heaps of clean wood shavings into the boxes to making them extra cozy for the layers.

Meanwhile, Liam mucked out the chicken coop with minimal adult assistance.  My barn babies are getting older and are becoming quite proficient at helping me out with farm chores.

All of our animals were very happy to have clean, dry sleeping quarters.  The goats were especially enamoured with the fresh hay we piled into their feeder.  Both the mamas and the babies could not gobble it up fast enough.

Martha's tummy is super full of hay.  Look how round she is!
I guess when you're a goat, there is always room for one more mouthful of crunchy, delicious hay.  Especially when you have a soft and lovely pile of straw to snooze in afterwards.
