Forage Friday

Today's rainy weather required us put our tea garden work on hold, so we headed off for a wet walk in the woods instead.

The boys were thrilled to discover that the wild garlic (ramps) were up.  They carefully foraged some for today's meals.  Liam and Seamus showed Ali how to take only one leaf from a plant so that the plant stays healthy and can continue to grow.   Ali got the hang of it quickly and was very proud of himself when he harvested himself a ramp leaf like his big brothers, "I did it!"  He was not so pleased once he stuffed it in his mouth and realized that it was spicy!

We also were lucky enough to see some beautiful, though soggy, wild flowers on our walk.  Nothing boosts the spirits like early spring blooms.

When we got home, it was wild garlic in our omelettes for lunch and on our pizza for dinner.

What a fantastic foraged treat on a very rainy Friday!
