The Boys Went Over a Mountain to See What They Could See

With the expected rain pushed to this evening, the boys suggested that we might as well go on an adventure.  And so, we decided to head over a mountain to see what we could see.  We had never hiked a mountain before and it was high time to check this off our list; so, off we headed to Calabogie.

We hiked the Manitou Mountain Trail stopping at both the Red Arrow Rock Lookout and the Manitou Mountain Lookout.

We can officially report that hiking with elevation is tough!  Our trek was a mere 7.85 km but we worked for every step.  We all sweated buckets and had to push from trail marker to trail marker with a break at each during the steepest parts.

Our hard work was rewarded though with two fantastic lookouts and the discovery of many amazing mushrooms on the forest floor.

It seems that when my boys attempt to go over a mountain they can indeed see lots of cool stuff - they just have to work really hard for it.  We haven't been so hot and so very tired in a long time!
