From Egg Rock to Ice Cream Cone

Another day, another adventure.  We left the farm in the capable feathers of Murtagh FitzGibbons (aka Fitz the Tiny Roo) and headed off to explore the Bonnechere River.

We did a trio of short hikes, each with a big payoff.  First up was Egg Rock.  Less than a km but straight up and straight back down.  The lookout was certainly a high point (get it?).

This short jaunt was followed up by a longer but very flat trek to High Falls. The boys loved the gushing falls. Their awe at this waterfall made me very excited to show them Niagara Falls one day.

Seamus spotted some noteworthy mushrooms along this trail too. Mushroom hunting is Seamus' jam.

Last but not least we chose a third hike, McNaughton Trail in Bonnechere Provincial Park, that was suitable for Alistair.  An added bonus was that this walk had loads of education placards for Liam to read along the way.  Educational placards are Liam's jam.

This was a really crazy, slightly spiky, perfect spherical mushroom.

Huge white pines.

Alistair walked/ran the whole trail!

We capped off our very active and very fun day with Hawaiian pizza and ice cream cones from JoJo's in Stittsville.  We definitely earned these treats and besides, ice cream cones are Alistair's jam.

It is as big as his head!

Tiger tail was the fan favourite today.  Ew!

Only after we ordered "small" cones (two scoops) did they tell us that
there is indeed a "mini" size (one scoop I am assuming); it is just not on the menu.
Figures.

Another great day with my great kiddos.  I am one lucky (and tired) Mama.

And yes, everyone did just fine under Fitz's constant vigilance.
