Just Waiting for the Unicorns

Everything around here is coming up apple blossoms, rainbows and tea parties today.  I am just waiting for the unicorns to start appearing.

We are in full bloom here at Gael Glen Farm.  With all the apple, pear and cherry blossoms, lilacs and dandelions, the farm smells heavenly.

We won't let the kids pick the apple blossoms - we like the actual apples too much - but dandelions are fair game.  My kids see a sea of dandelions and immediately think "dandelion jelly"!  I have trained them well.  After a bunch of hard work picking about a million dandelion heads, both Liam and Seamus made their own batches of jelly.

And if you give a kid some dandelion jelly, chances are they are going to ask you for a tea party.  Obviously.  This afternoon we held our inaugural tea party in Gael Glen Farm's brand new Roses & Raspberries Tea Garden.

The boys devised the menu and got busy in the kitchen.

We had:

Ham and cheddar focaccia with garlic chives.

Cucumber and cream cheese on crackers.

The star of the show: dandelion jelly!

Red current tea biscuits.

Homemade mango lemonade with homegrown raspberries.

Liam's famous lemon tea cake with cranberries and rhubarb.

We used real bone china cups and saucers gifted to me from GG
for our mango and pomegranate tea.

And if this wasn't enough loveliness for one day, we also figured out how to make our own rainbows while watering the garden.

With all the fragrant blossoms, homemade rainbows and delicious tea parties floating around the farm today, I seriously would not be surprised to find a unicorn lounging around with the sheep during tonight's chores.

Gael Glen Farm was a really magical place to be today.
