Harvest Helper

We took full advantage of another incredible November day for bike riding, barn mucking, deer hunting, marshmallow roasting, Christmas light stringing, and, last but certainly not least, rutabaga pulling.

Alistair was my very best harvest helper in the rutabaga department.  He held on to the collection bin like a champ and closely supervised my every tug.

He was impressed with the yield we got of the last of our rutabaga and beet crops.  We will store these in the fridge for the next few weeks (alongside the half dozen pie pumpkins we were gifted by Ms. Kerry yesterday) while we work very hard at eating it all up.

I wonder if rutabaga pumpkin stew is a thing?  Beet pumpkin muffins?  Pumpkin rutabaga beet smoothies?  The possibilities are endless; whether they are delicious, however, might be another story.
