From an Egg of One's Own to a Room to Share

Thirty of our thirty-six eggs have hatched and the chicks have been moved into their new chick mobile.

The chicks seem thrilled with their new digs and with all the camaraderie after spending three weeks alone cramped inside an egg.  Seamus and I set them up in the garage in the lawn mover trailer filled with clean, dry wood shavings, a heat lamp, food and water.

Ian and relocated them there from the incubator around lunch time.

I taught each one to drink by dipping his/her beak in the water and then placing him/her under the heat lamp for a nap.

The chicks seem perfectly content in their new home.  They have been alternating between napping, eating, drinking, snuggling, and cheeping all afternoon.  Today is a good day to be a Gael Glen Farm chick.
