The boys worked on tackling our pile of laundry at the campground’s laundromat and we all spent hours in the pool. It was one of those deceivingly sunny days where these wind is cool but if you are not careful the sun roasts you. We wore a lot of sunscreen and then took hot showers to wash it all off along with the healthy dose of chlorine from the pool.
After BBQing up hamburgers and corn-on-the-cob for lunch, we all headed over to check out the Boomtown casino and kids’ fun village. We used coupons we got from the campground to ride the carousel and play a round of mini golf for free. Ian also had a coupon for a free beer from the bar.
Next it was back to the rodeo for the finals. Time for the last round of competition and to give out the silver spurs to the winners. Before the show, the boys tried out the amusement park rides until their tummies hurt from the spinning. Seamus’ favourite was, of course, the Dropzone but the big boys really loved their first time on the Gravitron. As always, the swings was a crowd favourite.
Our seats for the rodeo were in the rowdy section; there was much more atmosphere but we were packed in like sardines. It was as cold and windy as last night but we were dressed much warmer so it was more enjoyable. Alistair dressed himself like an abominable snowman with three t-shirts, two pairs of pants and multiple sweaters - at least he was warm! We were much closer to the rodeo events in these seats but it was a bit tougher to see over all the tall cowboys in Stetsons and (perhaps overly) enthusiastic fans who stood for large parts of the event. Luckily as others began to freeze, the stands cleared out and we got a better view.
It was another late night for the boys. We got to bed around 11pm. Tomorrow we say “goodbye” to Reno and get back to the open road.
