We had breakfast with our new friend George the banana slug. He was the perfect breakfast companion, quiet and polite. He showed up right on time, stayed on his side of the picnic table, and munched on his own snacks.
It was an early morning beach walk to start our day. We checked out Jug Handle State Reserve. The tide was coming in so we got to appreciate the big waves and salty Pacific Ocean air one last time before heading back inland.
Then it was into the truck for a long drive east. We went over the mountains (again) and into fruit production central. We have never seen fruit and nut trees grown on such a massive scale. We checked out a few (of the very many) roadside fruit stands and secured some super fresh peaches, plums, and apricots. Yum! The donut peaches were insanely delicious. Perhaps the best we have ever eaten. We also drove past rice paddy fields. Super cool.

| So many fruit trees all evenly spaced with zero weeds. |
 |
| Fresh sweet corn! |
 |
| Rice paddies! |
 |
| More fruit trees. |

| We were even dive bombed by a crop sprayer flying extremely low. It was a bit unnerving. |
Lunch was pretty special. We stopped in Chico, CA to visit the Sierra Nevada Brewery. We treated ourselves to lunch and beer tasting at their fancy restaurant. Both the food and the beer were fantastic. Our favourites included the huge pretzel with creamy beer cheese dip, the bacon, cheddar, jalapeño smash burger, and the chocolate malted milk shakes.

| People really have a thing for Bigfoot around here. |
In the evening, we were hosted by a retired colleague of Ian’s for a visit at their lovely home in Grass Valley and invited to park on their quiet residential street for the night. It is the perfect stopping place. We are almost in Reno!
Forget the slug. Liked the pretzel. 😂
