It is that time of year when growing season is wrapping up and hunting season is well underway. It was a big hunting weekend for Ian with both goose and duck hunting excursions and a trip to the gun range. Meanwhile, the boys and I stayed busy preparing the kitchen garden for winter. We pulled all the annual vegetable plants and weeds, stacked up the tomato cages and piled up all the garden stakes. Once the soil dries up a bit, we are ready for rototilling, edging and then garlic and multiplier onion planting.

While winter preparations are already underway, it is still the perfect time to celebrate the harvest. We are grateful for this year's long growing season and bountiful yield. There is nothing like turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, and pumpkin pie to truly give thanks to Mother Nature for helping us to fill our tummies with healthy, homegrown food all summer and to stock our pantry for the winter weather ahead. Now that the pantry is full and we have given thanks, it is up to Daddy to fill the freezers. He is working hard to deliver!

Liam said it best, "We are grateful for our land and fresh water. Without these, we wouldn't eat." Happy Harvest Celebration everyone!
