Food for our honey bees sure is plentiful this time of year. We did hive inspections today. We applied the spring mite treatments and fed sugar water. This will be the last feeding for the strong hives; honey supers will be going on them next week. For the weaker hives, we will keep feeding sugar syrup until they are back to filling up two brood chambers. All the hives are currently queen right, though the laying pattern in two of the weaker hives is not ideal. We'll see how everyone fares with the mite treatments and then we will see about perhaps re-queening if needed.
This blooming bush was buzzing this afternoon! |
