A Toasty Detour

It's been a long time since updating the blog.  All of us here on Gael Glen Farm are good and busy.  We are looking forward to the end of a long winter and anticipating the warm, muddiness of the spring to come.  The windows are out of the chicken coop for the first time this year - let's air out that poultry!  The sun is shining, the baby is in the midst of being sleep trained (which means an uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep for Mom as long as she wears ear plugs and sleeps in the basement so she isn't traumatized by the crying) and everyone is happy and full of bread.  Which leads me to my next point...

While we were recently up visiting Grandpa Al, he bestowed on us my new best friend - a bread machine recipe book.

Grandpa Al and Liam
After an exciting (and costly) trip to Bulk Barn for a bunch of special ingredients, I began experimenting with making a bunch of unique and unusual breads to try.

Some have been a success and others an absolute failure (both due to my mistakes and what I can only figure are the recipe's shortcomings).  The next several posts will fill you in the our Bready Adventures.
