Stew Season
Chilly nights and warm, sunny afternoons make it the best time of year for stew. Tonight's meal is a delicious venison stew, full of turnips and kale from our autumn garden. Perfection.

Ian massive Sunday afternoon catch turned into a delicious Wednesday night supper. Pike fish cakes with homegrown spinach salad and baked Long Island Cheese squash drizzled with maple syrup. Yum!

Chickens in Charge
Kerry: Can I renew? Don't your chickens stop laying this time of year?
Me: Actually the chickens are laying great. Renew away!
Kerry: Sending EMT now.
Chickens: Ba-ha-ha-ha.
We dropped from 22 eggs per day last week to 4 eggs per day this week. The brown egg layers have stopped completely. It is very clear who is in charge around here. It is not me.
